Wierd are the ways of the lens
The above is a piece of ice stuck inside a plastic bottle. Just notice the way the light plays on the ridges in the cube as well as on the grooves of the bottle.

Hey, good shot. Was it taken in macro mode? If not, what was the focal length?
Also liked the previous one on roads. I too am a roadie (without a car that is:( ), and an amateur photographer. Will be having some excellent(fingers X-ed) road photos up in few days. Will ping you.
Me too experimenting with some stitching..yr badminton shot was neatly done.
Try to follow the rule of thirds(you know what it is, isn't it?). That by itself raises any shot up by a few notches. I've experienced it myself. There are some more principles which if you follow as an amateur, it'll be good. Feel free to ping me if you don't know abt subject balancing, leading spaces etc. very easy to grasp even for amateurs.
